Two tapering cylindrical spouts rise from a spherical body, bridged by a single arched handle, with the whole form lifted on four slender cylindrical legs. The satin-black glaze runs matte over the body and sharpens to a soft gloss along the shoulder, with unglazed terracotta at the leg tips. Ponti developed the Gubbio shapes with the Umbrian ceramicist Carlo Alberto Rossi, translating Etruscan blackware into a modern sculptural vocabulary; Costantino issued the series as authorized re-editions in 1997, since discontinued. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMarked NEOPONTI GIO PONTI 1940 on the underside, carrying the original design date.
