A fantastic limited edition table lamp by Johanna Grawunder for her 1995 Air Conditioning Collection for Design Gallery Milano. A rectangular wood form covered in anthracite colored laminate with battlements like a medieval castle, each protecting a tube light bulb. Produced in an edition of 20 by Design Gallery Milano.

Born in San Diego, California, Johanna Grawunder is best known for her lighting designs and installations, with projects ranging from custom commissions and large-scale public installations to limited-edition and mass-produced furniture and objects. She studied architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, worked in Italy's radical design scene with Superstudio (1984-1985), and became a partner at Ettore Sottsass Associati (1985-2001). She opened her own design studio in San Francisco and Milan in 2001.

She's produced designs for B&B, Flos, and Glas Italia and her work is included in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, High Museum of Atlanta, San Francisco MoMA, LA County Museum of Art, and Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
