From one of the villages surrounding the city of Konya in Central Anatolia, this 1980s handwoven wool rug draws inspiration from the mid-century and Scandinavian Modern design tradition, styles not traditionally found in Turkish rugs of the era. This rug was produced for sale, not as a dowry piece. It has a fantastic modern design using orange, reddish brown, and blue colors.
In good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age and use, including a S woven into the rug perhaps to repair a tear. Has recently been professionally cleaned.
