Born in 1934, Japanese silkscreen printer Fumio Tomita was particularly fond of and skilled at creating simple colored abstract and geometric shapes, often against a light background. "Walking Star" is a perfect example of his work, which can be found in the British Museum, The National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, Seattle Art Museum, Harvard Art Museums, International Museum of Contemporary Art in Brazil, and the National Library of France
