Panton was one of Denmark's most exciting 20th-century designers, rejecting Scandinavia's muted minimalism for psychedelic colors and conceptual installations. His designs are recognized for their colorfulness and a rigorous exploration of systems as a basis for the development of textiles, rugs, chairs, lamps, and textiles.
