From the town of Karakeçili in the Kırıkkale region of Central Anatolia, this lovely rug was handwoven in the early to mid-20th century for use as a dowry piece. The town of Karakeçili is know for its black goats used to produced the wool that serves as the foundation of this rug. (Karakeçili translates to "place with black goats".) In addition to the black wool, it also integrates red, orange, white, and tan colors in the design.
In good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use.
