A black bucchero ceramic vessel designed by Gio Ponti, produced by Costantino for the Neoponti collection, Italy, 1997. A deep V-notch cuts into the rim of the sharply flared upper body, which narrows to a tight waist above a distinct spherical base, raised on four splayed cylindrical legs with unglazed terracotta at the tips. Satin-black glaze throughout. The smaller of the two sizes in which this form was made. Ponti drew the Gubbio series with the Umbrian ceramicist Carlo Alberto Rossi, reinterpreting Etruscan blackware in modern sculptural terms; Costantino reissued the designs in 1997 under authorization.
In excellent condition, no chips, cracks, or restoration. Accompanied by its original Neoponti booklet and manufacturer's box.
