A twin-necked bucchero ceramic vessel designed by Gio Ponti and produced by Costantino for the Neoponti collection, Italy, 1997. Two tapering cylindrical spouts rise from a spherical body, bridged by a single arched handle, with the whole form lifted on four slender cylindrical legs. The satin-black glaze runs matte over the body and sharpens to a soft gloss along the shoulder, with unglazed terracotta at the leg tips. Ponti developed the Gubbio shapes with the Umbrian ceramicist Carlo Alberto Rossi, translating Etruscan blackware into a modern sculptural vocabulary; Costantino issued the series as authorized re-editions in 1997, since discontinued.
Marked NEOPONTI GIO PONTI 1940 on the underside, carrying the original design date. Excellent condition throughout, no chips, cracks, or restoration. Accompanied by its original Neoponti booklet and manufacturer's box.
