A two-handled amphora in black bucchero ceramic, designed by Gio Ponti and produced by Neoponti/Costantino, Italy, 1997. A long tapering neck opens to a flared trumpet rim, flanked by two tall thin handles that sweep from the rim down to the shoulder of a full spherical body, raised on a turned pedestal foot. Satin-black glaze with unglazed terracotta at the foot rim.
The shape reworks classical amphora proportions through Ponti's interest in Etruscan blackware, developed with the Gubbio ceramicist Carlo Alberto Rossi and reissued by Costantino under authorization as part of the Neoponti collection.
Marked NEOPONTI GIO PONTI 1940 on the underside, the original design date rather than the production year. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. Accompanied by its original Neoponti booklet and manufacturer's box.
