Designed in 1946 by Carlo Mollino (1905-1973), Zanotta began producing the Reale dining table in the mid-1980s along with a few select other items designed by this eclectic architect and designer. Mollino's work is characterized by the use of organic shapes and natural materials producing timeless designs that are as relevant in the 2020s as they were in the 1940s.
Mollino was born in Turin, Italy with expansive interests, including in art, race cars and the occult.
Available in a variety of finishes and table top materials, this early example of the Reale table by Zanotta has a black varnished wood and metal base, glass top, and was produced in the 1980s. The complex design of the base is light and sensuous and evokes a skeleton, while supporting the rectangular 15mm glass table top to give it a weightless look.
In very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including a professional repair to the frame and a few marks.
