Ray & Charles Eames created the Stacking Side Chair (DSS) in response to demands for a lightweight, stacking chair that could be set up quickly for seating large groups and, at the same time, be stored easily. The chairs can be arranged in straight or curved rows. When stacked, the side hooks support and separate the seats to avoid abrasion.
Each black shell bears the Herman Miller logo and each are upholstered in original black vinyl. One chair has one small hole in the upholstery and several have original IBM inventory labels. (See photos.)
