Patrick Nagel was an American artist best known for his illustrations for Playboy magazine and Duran Duran’s Rio album cover. Nagel generally worked from a photograph and simplified by removing elements that he felt unnecessary. As is so often true in his work, the subject of “Open Jacket” (!992) is a beautiful, dark haired woman with bright red lipstick and a very 1980s clothing. Framed with a double matte, one grey and one white.
