While known professionally as Yvaral, Jean-Pierre Vasarely (the son of op art pioneer Victor Vasarely) was a French artist working in op-art and kinetic art in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. His work with Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visual (GRAV) with Julio Le Parc, François Morellet, Francisco Sobrino, Horacio Garcia Rossi, and Joel Stein from 1960-1968 helped in the development of his artistic direction. This untitled and undated screen print is likely from the mid to late 1970s. Using geometric shapes brightening towards a horizon, Yvaral draws the viewer in with brightening gradients of black, purple, red, orange, yellow, and finally white. Yvaral's works can be found in the permanent collections of The Tate Modern in London and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Signed and numbered in pencil (76 of an edition of 200) and presented in a dark brown wood frame with an off-white matte. Includes inventory sticker from corporate art collection of Kidder, Peabody & Co. (an American investment bank that ceased operations in 1994.)
