With its round shape and white, blue, green and, red coloring, this beautiful mid century art glass bowl by Maurice Heaton closely resembles an eyeball. Signed by the artist with his trademark “M.H.” but undated, this bowl is in fantastic shape, with no chips, cracks, or fleabites. Likely from the 1950’s.
Maurice Heaton was born in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1900, and lived in New York until his death in 1989. He was educated at the Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken New Jersey, and he is well known for his modernist glass works and enameled tableware. His work is found in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Arts & Design (MAD).
