Working with a who’s who of mid century designers, Don Pettit assisted Harry Bertoia with the development and production of his wire chair collection, helped Eero Saarinen conceptualize and executive his Tulip Collection, and worked directly with Florence Knoll on the 1105 chair.
Much rarer than the side chair version of this design, the desk chair variation of Petitt’s 1105 chair for Knoll International sits on four wheels and a central post that allows the user to swivel and move around easily. As Knoll described the chair in a 1967 ad, the Petitt Chair "is made of a continuous curve of walnut that delights the eye from every angle." A beautiful and masterful advancement in the use of bentwood in furniture design.
Upholstered in a light red fabric (ok, it’s more of a dark pink), this chair is in perfect working order and has no spots, tears, or marks in the fabric. Knoll label on seat bottom shows a delivery date of July 15, 1977.
