Showing a clear influence from Ettore Sottsass and the Memphis Group's immense impact on design in the 1980s, this matching ice bucket and coasters are in the Sunburst pattern from Georges Briard's "Memphasis" collection. In fact, the Sunburst was on the cover of Briard's 1985 catalog. Making use of asymmetrical shapes and geometric patterns as well as primary colors, the ice bucket is red with aqua sunburst and lid combined with black, yellow and red knobs and handles. The set of six aqua coasters fit into a red holder with aqua corner brackets.
Georges Briard was Ukrainian designer born in Poland who found immense success in the U.S. in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s that is most known for his signature dishware and glassware.
