An icon of postmodern design, Mario Botta's Seconda chair is as much a piece of architecture as furniture. The Seconda (model 602) demonstrates every bit of the Botta's influences and fits perfectly with his design for San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art. The chair was designed in 1985 and is produced in Italy by Alias. With a gray painted metal frame, black perforated metal seat, and simple black cylindrical elements upholstered in black polyurethane for the back rest, Botta's ingenious design for the Seconda is in keeping with his aesthetic of using simple geometric shapes that create complex and unique spaces.
In very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including mild paint loss on the frame and small cracks in the back cushions. (Please see photos for detail.) Backrests are embossed with the Alias logo.
