Designed by Michele de Lucchi for Alessi in 2015, the Pulcina stovetop espresso maker is a "high performance coffee maker" with a built-in boiler that stops dispensing the brewed coffee at the exact right time before it develops a bitter aftertaste. De Lucchi is a prolific Italian architect and designer well-known for his involvement with the Studio Alchimia and Memphis design groups, as well as his own company. He's designed for Artemide, Olivetti, Alias, Unifor, Hermès, Philips, Siemens and Vitra and received several Compasso d'oro prizes, which is the highest possible award in the design world. This is the Pulcina MDL02/3 model, which is the 3 cup size.
